The Archaeology of Irish Ringforts

Ringforts, also known as raths, are important early medieval archaeological features scattered across the Irish landscape.  The ringfort at Lismore Comprehensive School remains in its original, un-excavated form, a visual testament to a millennium-old landscape.  Detailed archaeological excavations at other ringforts throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland provide valuable clues about the construction, chronology, and occupation of ringforts.
